A Closer Look – Interior
The interior of the PSU is really nicely designed and there’s not a lot of trailing cables or overhanging components to be found; this should help greatly with airflow and cooling.
There are two main bulk capacitors, which is surprising given that it’s only a 660W unit. The dual 420v 220uF units are high-quality and rated to 105c; I wouldn’t be surprised if this PSU operates comfortably past its 660W rating.
Front front PCB is really nicely laid out and while only a minor detail, even the soldering work looks a lot cleaner and more precise than many of the PSUs we see.
There’s a good range of main output capacitors dotted around the board for the various rails of the PSU; all are typically high-quality components, as you would expect from any Seasonic unit.
The AC in/EM filtering stage. The 660W Platinum is compatible with the full range of AC inputs, 100-240V (Max 90-264V), 50/60Hz.
All of the smaller caps are under passive heat sinks, which should play a large part in the PSUs hybrid fan modes.
The included fan is a San Ace 120 9S1212F404. This is a good quality fan and with any lucky, it won’t be too noisy. So now that we’ve seen what the PSU features, let’s get it on our test bench and see what it can do!
