Pricing
This PSU isn’t cheap, far from it and it will set you back £118.39 from Scan.co.uk. Of course, for your investment you get fantastic efficiency, hybrid fan, modular cables, a 7 year warranty and more! So don’t dismiss it for the price, because you really do get what you pay for.
Conclusion
I was expecting this unit to be good, but I wasn’t expecting it to be this good. The sub 700w ranges are more often than not mid-range units with perfectly reasonable, but not quite high-end levels of performance. Despite this, the latest unit from Seasonic delivers premium grade performance for those who don’t need a 1000w unit and that’s certainly no bad thing.
The voltage regulation and ripple suppression were right where we expected them to be, a little above average given the price and quality of the unit. This is helped in no small part by the exceptional build quality and the use of high-quality components. One thing that certainly stands out is that the internal layout of this PSU is clean and tidy, with lots of room for passive heat dissipation and airflow from the pre-installed fan. This is also a big contributor to the units high levels of efficiency and it made easy work of the 80 Plus Platinum specifications.
Fully modular, all black and flat design cables are always a welcome bonus. They’re all of a really good quality, easy to route around your chassis and the uniform appearance will help keep your build looking great without the need for modded or braided cables.
The hybrid fan mode was something of a shock, as it seemed to act more like a fan on/off switch, with the PSU never doing more than the occasional light spin of the fan every twenty minutes or so for just a few seconds. Even in active cooling mode, the unit was quiet and used low RPM, so this would make a great unit for those wanting a quiet system.
The price is a little high, but that’s not a negative factor here when you look at what you’re getting for your money. Seasonic didn’t become an industry leader for nothing and it’s easy to see why since we’ve started testing this unit.

“Seasonic has proven once again that if you pay for the best, you get the best! This unit may cost a little more than some competitors, but its excellent power efficiency and delivery, as well as a seven-year warranty, will pay for themselves in the long run.”
