The Emerald City to have its own Gigabit internet service! On Thursday, Seattle’s Mayor Mike McGinn said that it has made an agreement with Gigabit Squared and the University of Washington. The new fibre project to provide 1Gbps speed will be demonstrated in 12 neighbourhoods, which will also use wireless methods. With the support from the University of Washington they intend to expand business opportunities, health care, education, and public safety for the people of Seattle.

Although the prices for this 1Gbps connection are not yet disclosed, Gigabit’s Seattle website says that it will come with extremely competitive rates for households and businesses.

As of now, Google is the one who has taken the initiative to supply 1Gbps internet speed in Kansas, U.S.A.
