Despite the game suffering umpteen delays, a new trailer for Rockstar’s open-world Western sequel Red Dead Redemption 2 is out now. The clip follows our new (anti-)hero Arthur Morgan as he and his gang wreak havoc across the wild frontier.
The second Red Dead Redemption 2 trailer features all the familiar staples: horses, revolvers, Stetsons, lassos, and dirt. Dry, hot dirt. Oh, and those beautiful vistas:
“The all-new trailer for Red Dead Redemption 2, the story of outlaw Arthur Morgan and the Van der Linde gang as they rob, fight and steal their way across the vast and rugged heart of America in order to survive. Coming Spring 2018 to PlayStation 4 and Xbox One systems.”
Here, Rockstar all but confirms that, despite that “2” bolted onto the title, the new Red Dead Redemption game is a prequel. How do we know this? Presumably, the titular Van der Linde is Red Dead Redemption antagonist Dutch Van der Linde. In the Red Dead Redemption (SPOILERS), Van der Linde throws himself off a cliff, rather than be felled by protagonist John Marsden. The glimpse of (what looks like) a younger Van der Linde in the trailer seems to confirm this.
Red Dead Redemption 2 is out for Xbox One and PS4 in Spring 2018, barring further delays.
