Having had an up close and personal look at Team Sonic Racing at Gamescom 2018, I must admit I was rather impressed with it. It looked like, finally, a worthy Mario Kart style clone was finally going to break to the other non-Nintendo consoles. With it due to release before the end of the year, this might have even have been on a few peoples Christmas list as a fun party game.
Sadly though, in a report via WCCFTech, Sega has announced that Team Sonic Racing has now been delayed well into 2019.
Put simply, Sega doesn’t feel that the game is going to be ready for launch before Christmas. Not, at least, without putting in a lot of compromises. As such, they have delayed the game for around 6 months. While that is quite a long time, it will hopefully be enough to make sure that this hits shelves and systems in a nice polished state.
The new release date for Team Sonic Racing is May 19th 2019.
Sega has said: “Hey guys! To make Team Sonic Racing the best game it can be, we’re giving the team extra time to work on it. Our new release date is May 21, 2019. We know delays are no fun, but quality matters most. Thanks for your patience – we’ve got more to show you for TSR very soon!”
While it is disappointing this won’t come out for Christmas, at least Sega seem keen to get this right!
