Sega Megadrive Back in Production in Brazil

The year was 1989, and five-year-old me was asking for one thing for Christmas, the Sega Megadrive. Lucky for me, I actually got one, but don’t worry if you didn’t, as there’s a possibility that it could be coming to market yet again, at least in Brazil. TecToy are now officially licenced to start producing the console again, and it looks a hell of a lot like the original too!
There are a few minor upgrades, however, as it’ll have an SD card slot and AV cables, although still no HDMI port which is a bit of a shame. Despite being a bit of a remake, it’ll still support the classic game library in the usual way, so get ready to blow the dust off those old carts if you can get hold of the TecToy hardware.
The console is still popular, and Sega are looking at bringing back a lot of classic stuff this last year, so perhaps we’ll see more stuff like this if the hardware is a success. It’s already up for pre-order at 399BR ($125). Personally, I want the Saturn to return, such an underrated console for its time!
