Sengled SNAP LED + IP Security Camera Review

A Closer Look

The first thing you’ll notice about the snap is that it’s freaking huge. Any questions about how they fit a camera, speaker, microphone, IR, lighting and WiFi into a lightbulb are easily answered by the fact they made it quite big. It uses the fat E27 screw fitting, which isn’t that common here in the UK, but we’ll be using an E27 to B22 adapter to install it, which are typically less than £2/$2 on sites like Amazon.

The bulb may be large, but it’s also quite heavy too, so you’ll want a sturdy fitting to install it into. Fortunately, the overall build quality of the Snap feels robust and very well put together, which no doubt contributes to its wide range of operating temperatures and IP rating.

On the edge of the Snap, there’s a simple reset switch, should you need to reconfigure it.

On the other side, a small and tasteful Sengled logo, but not much else.

Now onto the business end of the Snap, here you’ll see a whole host of ports, lenses and lights that give the Snap its vast feature set.

In the middle, you’ve got the main light, which is LED and operates at 14W with 850-lumen max brightness; more than enough to light up a garage, medium sized garden or similar sized area.

There’s also a pair of IR lights, which will help the built-in HD camera see clearly in the dark; very handy for security.

Tucked into the side, you’ll find the HD camera, as well as pinhole microphones and a small speaker, allowing you to not only watch what is going on via live stream or recorded clips, but also listen, and even talk back. Great for home security, but it also means you could use the Snap as a form of baby monitor!

Overall, a very nice looking product with excellent build quality.

Now it’s time to lift this beast up to the nearest light fitting and see what it can do!
