The Sengled SNAP doesn’t come cheap at £169.09, but when you add up the sum of all of its features, it’s actually pretty amazing value for money. It can be installed in seconds, offers a wide range of features and it’s a very well made product, and you’ll struggle to find anything quite like it at this price range.

Overview

The SNAP is unlike any other light bulb we’ve ever seen. Considering it’s as easy to install as virtually any other lightbulb, it packs in an absolutely huge range of features that you would typically need a dedicated security system to manage. There’s no need for a hub, it doesn’t have to pair with your NAS, it doesn’t need any wires, nothing complicated at all. Just screw it in, pair it with the app, and you’re good to go.

Home security is obviously a big part of what the SNAP offers, but it’s also handy for more passive features. Need a spotlight for your porch that’s remote-controlled and dimmable? Not a problem. Of course, if you’re at the other side of your property and you get a mobile notification that there’s someone at your door, you can view the stream, see that it’s a courier wanting to deliver a parcel, then use the microphone to tell him not to leave and that you’ll be at the door in a couple of minutes. On the other hand, if you see a parcel was left and someone trying to steal it, you can shout at them through the SNAP and record video of the crime.

It’s not particularly cheap and you may feel a little crazy spending well over £150 on a “bulb”, but when you consider that it has a 1080p security camera built-in, night vision modes, a powerful LED dimmable light, built-in microphone, built-in speaker, built-in Wi-Fi, and needs no expertise to install, it’s an absolute bargain.

Of course, hardware features are great here, but the build quality is also worth of merit. The SNAP comes with an IP54 rating, able to operate in -20c to +40c, and only uses 14 watts of power. If you’re looking for a durable, flexible and comprehensive smart light for your home or workplace, this is it.
