Case, cooling and peripheral manufacturer Sharkoon is releasing a new RGB LED edge lit mouse mat called the 1337 RGB. It measures 359 x 279 mm and is only 3mm thick, but offers enough room for smooth gliding on its textile surface. The LED surrounds the mat like a halo, with seven preset colors available. However, it remains portable and rollable unlike most RGB LED pads in the market.
At the top left corner is the RGB LED hardware controller. Unlike some mousepads, it is located in this position so as not to interfere with the mouse cable. Moreover, there is also a cable management holder on this section, so that the mouse cable stays in place. The idea is to give the mouse enough slack while securing a part of the cable. Think of it like a low-profile mouse bungee.
The pad is powered via a 180 cm long USB Type-A cable connector. Obviously, this is not necessary for using the mouse mat. However, this powers the RGB LED lighting. With the cable plugged in, users can choose a static lighting effect, pulsating illumination or rainbow RGB automatic lighting mode effect.
In typical Sharkoon fashion, the 1337 RGB mouse mat is highly affordable at only 19.99 EUR (MSRP with VAT).
