Sharkoon released a new headset stand that isn’t just a holder for your headset, but one that comes with a virtual 7.1 surround sound card. The new X-Rest 7.1 Surround Sound Headset Stand features an external USB sound card into which you can plug any ordinary headset whether they use default 3.5mm connectors or the newer TRRS cables.
The X-Rest 7.1 is a relatively simple stand with its angular design and textile braided cable. It also features blue LED illumination that will turn red should the microphone be muted. A great way to quickly see the microphone state with just a glance. Otherwise, users are also able to control the audio levels right on top of the stand itself.
Thanks to its heavy base and nonslip rubber feet, the X-Rest 7.1 should remain stable and stay where you place it. Besides just being a headphone stand, the X-Rest 7.1 provides virtual surround sound to any Windows PC or notebook, Mac computers, and the PS4. It also comes with a built-in equalizer for different usage scenarios such as voice over IP, gaming, music, and movies.
On top of the holding function, it also allows you to extend the range of your headset as the Sharkoon X-Rest 7.1 comes with a 2-meter long cable. Price wise, it won’t break the bank either and that’s a thing that we’ve gotten used to from Sharkoon. The X-Rest 7.1 Surround Sound Headset Stand comes with a manufacture’s suggested retail price of €19.99 and it should be available at retailers now.
