Sharkoon DarkGlider Gaming Mouse Review

What Sharkoon presented to us today, was a large, ergonomic shaped gaming mouse packed full of features – it is by far one of the most feature rich gaming mice we’ve seen for the price it retails (approx £41). The LCD screen, weight management system, customisable lighting and the software are all great features to see in a gaming mouse, and with the addition of ceramic feet, makes it also a rather interesting and unique product. It’s good too see that Sharkoon have considered that may gamers out there have large hands and relatively no choice when it comes to professional gaming equipment that will fit their hand size. The fact that they also managed to cram a weight tuning system into the mouse also increases the value, as again many people like to customise their mouse to suit them perfectly.

Overall we have been very impressed with the DarkGlider, the performance has exceeded our expectations for a relatively budget gaming mouse. The DPI switcher is always a great feature to include on gaming mice, but with the addition of a well placed DPI display, it makes it an ideal choice for every large handed gamer. The mouse also looks great, the all black, ergonomic shape with red lighting, topped with a rubberised coating gives it a sleek, almost stealthy appearance. To top it off the performance when gaming was also brilliant, even with the lack of buttons for those MMO games.

What did let the side down at first, was the ceramic feet and the fact it took a lot of fiddling and experimenting to remove the rocking we experienced when we first got a hands on the mouse. The oversight of the weight tuning system design has also impacted the negative side of the mouse, as it was fairly difficult to remove the cartridge due to the stiff catch, that kept getting jammed on the weights when we tried to remove it.

Negative aspects aside, the DarkGlider is still a superb mouse for any large handed gamer, especially at a the price it is currently retailing at. It would be almost impossible for Sharkoon to cram any more features into the mouse without compromising the overall positive experience. In fact, the only aspect they could change or add to is the amount of buttons, but currently residing at 10, this is an ideal amount for most gamers. We were pleased to see that some thought had gone into the placement of the LCD screen also, as with some of the other mice currently available on the market – where it is covered by your hand when using the mouse. We’ve had a very pleasant experience with the mouse, and applaud Sharkoon for not sacrificing the quality of the mouse to fit all those features in, and again, at a very respectable RRP.
