Sharkoon’s appreciated Skiller keyboard series has just received a new member in the form of this illuminated mechanical keyboard named Sharkoon SKILLER MECH SGK1. This model comes with a reinforced aluminium alloy surface and with a white background illumination system, but its list of highlights carries on with an integrated palm rest that supports ergonomics, a virtual interchangeable WASD section, n-key rollover, gaming modes and anti-ghosting. The SGK1 is based on high-quality mechanical Kailh switches, which come in three different versions.
These are named Brown (operating force: 45 g, switch: tactile, switching point: detectable, click point: undetectable, distance to actuation point: 2 mm), Red (operating force: operating force: 50 g, switch: linear, switching point: undetectable, click point: undetectable, distance to actuation point: 2 mm) and Blue (operating force: 50 g, switch: tactile, switching point: detectable, click point: precisely detectable, distance to actuation point: 1.9 mm). To put things in perspective, the Brown version operates similarly to rubber-dome keyboards, but it does come with a longer operating life cycle, 50 million keystrokes to be precise. Writers will definitely appreciate the Blue profile, as it provides a distinct acoustic feedback, while Red was designed for those who don’t want any feedback from their switches.
As for the white background illumination, even though it comes in a single color, it does boast six different lighting effects, namely a continuous wave, pulsating, tide, afterglow, the retro “snake” effect and an explosion lighting effect.
