According to a credible source in the industry, who leaked a wholesale pricelist document indicating a 9% to 28% price increase on all models and mounts, Sigma’s following Nikon’s lead and they are also increasing their lens prices. If you plan on buying one of their very good lenses like the Art Series or the entry and mid-level super-telephoto zoom lens, the Sigma 150-600 Contemporary and Sport version, it may be worth hit that order button now before the prices increase.
You can see the price increases on some of the lenses in the following photo above, which was leaked by NikonRumors.
“A new Sigma lens price increase is coming to Europe on January 1, 2017. Almost all lenses for all mounts (MFT, Sony, Nikon, Canon) will be impacted. The new prices will be between 9% and 28% higher” said Nikon Rumours.
In other news, Pentax seems to be planning to raise the price on some of their camera bodies (including the very interesting K-1). With all these price increases, I’m afraid Canon and Tamron will follow suit shortly afterwards. With the sales on a decline, they all seem too eager to increase the prices of their products to keep profits up and it’ll likely be some time before the prices come back down.
