Final Thoughts

Price

Unfortunately, we couldn’t find accurate pricing information for the Fortis 3 at the time of writing, as it’s a fairly new product, but we will update this section as soon as we know more. Until then, we recommend you check with your favourite retailers to see if they have stock/pricing information.

Overview

I wasn’t expecting much from the SilentiumPC Fortis 3, it’s technically a fairly standard cooler, but with the support of Malik, I knew there were a lot of reputations on the line here, and that it may still have what it takes to impress me. Thankfully, I am very impressed with this cooler, as it has perfect that can take on many of the bigger names in the industry and that’s something for SilentiumPC to be proud of.

Cooling performance was very good, offering low temperatures at stock clocks and holding up reasonably well while overclocked. Of course, it’s not ideal for extreme overclocking, but those using boost clocks or a less aggressive level of voltage on their CPU will do just fine. The acoustic performance of its 140mm fan was very impressive too, and ran whisper quiet throughout all our testing, meaning you could either keep things quiet or push the fan harder for improved cooling performance without and major concern.

The build quality is pretty good overall, and the direct contact heat-pipes are obviously doing a very good job. The finish is great too, with a nice coating on all of the metal work, but it’s that custom top panel arrangement that steals the show. Obviously, you’re unlikely to change that top panel very often, but if you want to colour match the cooler to your build, you’ll be happy to know it’s a very easy job to change-up the colours here, and you could always re-spray them to something more specific if you wanted to also.

Pros

  • Good build quality
  • Competitive performance
  • Whisper-quiet fan
  • Different colour top-panels
  • Easy to install

Cons

  • Limited availability (at time of writing)

Neutral

  • Stock RPM of the fan could be higher to give better out of the box cooling performance with minimal impact to the acoustics.

“A stylish and unique looking cooler with great potential for customisation makes the HD1425 Malik a really fun cooler to work with. Delivering reliable cooling and a whisper quiet performance, it’s going to make a very welcome addition to your next system build.”
