SilentiumPC Fortis 3 RGB (HE1425) Air Cooler – Review

How Much Does it Cost?
Retailing for a price in the region of £35-£40, despite the fact that this is (at least in branding) a high-performance air cooler, it certainly doesn’t cost anything close to products under that banner.
For what you get for the price here, SilentiumPC is offering consumers a great deal at a semi-compromise of having a nearly high-end air cooler, but for a fraction of the price.
Overview
The SilentiumPC Fortis 3 is something of a modern trend towards smaller companies taking really solid swings at some of the biggest names in the high-performance market.
While the Fortis 3 does have some limitations, it’s still an excellent compromise that, comparatively, offers many great aesthetics that its rivals don’t.
One of the biggest standout features in terms of performance, however, is noise control. This is amazingly quiet. Even despite having a 140mm when compared to other models that plump for a 120mm.
Should I Buy One?
Would I recommend this cooler? Absolutely. It provides a solid level of performance with some strong aesthetics that really make it stand-out in the ‘high-performance’ air cooler market.
Is it perfect? Absolutely not. Put only on a design level. The mounting system seems to follow the ilk of a system that’s different just for the sake of being different and, given how the radiator is installed, SilentiumPC really needed to throw in a suitable screwdriver. It would’ve only added a couple of dollars to the price and would’ve made a huge difference.
Should you buy one though? Well, if you’re looking for a solid and reliable air cooler that performs well beyond the price remit, then the SilentiumPC Fortis 3 RGB would be an excellent choice.
Pros
- Strong aesthetics
- Nice and bright RGB lighting effects
- Amazing noise control
- Exceptional price for the performance it gives.
Cons
- The mounting system is overly complicated.
Neutral
- The RGB effects, while nice and bright, are limited.
