The X-shaped mounting plate is a universal mount that can be opened and closed in a scissor motion to allow it to fit AMD and Intel socket boards.
This part was quite tricky as you have to pass each of the four screws through the X-mount back pane. Then you have to slot over the four plastic spacers, place the Intel or AMD mounting bars over, then and only then can you secure it all in place with the four top bolts. This does feel a little like you need three hands and did involve me dropping screws and sticking my tongue out with concentration.
It was then simply a case of screwing down the tower onto the now sturdy support bars.
Of course the fans are also super simple to install thanks to the included fan clips.
The Grandis features the same mounting system; the only requirement being that you need to use smaller top bolts (see bottom left corner). The ram clearance is just 2mm, but this can easily be resolved by mounting the fan on the other side of the cooler.
Once fitted, things look nice and tidy, plus the added bonus of room for a third fan should you feel the need.
