SilentiumPC Grandis & Fera 2 CPU Cooler Review

Performance
If I’m completely honest, I wasn’t expecting much from SilentiumPC in terms of performance and at stock loads their is certainly nothing wrong with the performance, but nothing to get excited about either as they both reside very close to the bottom of our chart. Interestingly there is hardly 1c difference between both the Fera 2 and Grandis despite the more “high end” appearance of the latter.
Acoustic performance was very good from the Fera 2, clocking in on par with the likes of the be quiet! Shadow Rock Slim. The Grandis didn’t favour too well, as we can see with it nearing the bottom of our chart.
This is where things pick up for the SilentiumPC products, both sitting side by side in the middle of our chart. I think it’s fair to say that this makes their performance pretty average, but given that they both out performed some much more expensive competitors such as the be quiet! products, I’m impressed. What is a disappointment is that the Grandis seems like a complete waste of time, beaten out by the much smaller, slimmer and budget friendly Fera 2 by a whole 1c.
Acoustic performance on the Fera 2 is superb once again, it’s actually at the top of our chart by luck. It wasn’t actually any quieter than the be quiet! products below it, but there is no shame in that. The Grandis favoured better here too, being only 1dBa louder than the be quiet! products on average.
