SilentiumPC Spartan 4 Air CPU Cooler Review

How Much Does it Cost?
In terms of pricing, it does appear that the SilentiumPC Spartan 4 isn’t exactly widely available. Well, at least not in the UK. Based on the retailing results we found, however, it would appear that this cooler is sold for a price in the region of £16-£20.
So, just in case it needed to be said, this clearly isn’t a lot of money for a cooling solution of any kind. In fact, this is about as inexpensive as it gets! So, when you take the performance into consideration, the Spartan 4 certainly represents some excellent value!
Overview
Despite its low cost, there is nothing within the design of the Spartan 4 that raises any alarms with us. On the whole, it appears to be a well-designed air cooler that could certainly handle the vast majority of modern processors. Admittedly, this isn’t a design you’re going to want to throw onto an Intel 10900K or an AMD Radeon 3900X, and we certainly wouldn’t recommend overclocking of any description, but for an entry-mid-tier CPU, this should perform more than admirably while taking up very little real-estate space within your case.
Should I Buy One?
The Spartan 4 is, at least in our view, looking to fill something of a niche within the market as something of a compromise between a full-sized air-cooler and a low-profile design. In other words, it’s a product that’s trying to tick a lot of the boxes from both categories to give users a ‘best of both worlds’ approach.
Does it succeed though? Well, admittedly, in terms of temperature control, this isn’t a high-performance design. In fact, it doesn’t even come close to that. So don’t buy this thinking you’re going to get amazingly low CPU temperatures because if you want that, you’re easily looking at at least triple this price tag! As a compact upgrade on most low-profile cooling designs, however, I think the Spartan 4 is more than successful in fulfilling its remit and, being available for such a low price, if you’re simply after a solid and amazingly quiet CPU cooler (that can fit into some of the tightest cases) this is definitely for you!
