SilverStone Announces The 800W SFX-L Power Supply

SilverStone has been at the forefront of technological development in creating more compact power supplies which are suitable for small form factor builds. Thankfully, consumers no longer have to accept lower wattages or other drawbacks just to install something which can fit with their new system. Recently, SilverStone unveiled the 800-watt SFX-L power supply which measures 125 mm x 130 mm x 63.5 mm. On another note, the product is fully modular and has enough wiring options to power a high-end gaming PC with two graphics cards. The power supply features a single +12V rail design and 80 Plus Titanium efficiency rating. Not only that, it has an active PFC, superb under/over voltage and under/over current protection. There’s also mechanisms to prevent issues if the PSU overheats and short-circuit protection.
The unit is actively cooled by a quiet 120mm fan although the lack of a passive ECO mode leaves me a little underwhelmed. Despite this, the power supply is a great option for those building a smaller rig who wants a hefty amount of power. This might be a flawed concept because ITX builds have lower power demands and only use one graphics card. Nevertheless, it’s great to have that option and there’s no reason why the product couldn’t be used in an ATX chassis. Unfortunately, there’s no information regarding pricing but this should be disclosed soon along with our review of the power supply.
