SilverStone is known for creating an impressive range cooling products which provide a good alternative to the bundled heatsinks included with modern processors. As small form factor builds become more prevalent, it’s important for companies to release low-profile coolers which can contend with a processor’s thermal loads in a tight space. Recently, Silverstone announced the NT08-115XP ultra low-profile CPU cooler which measures 101 mm x 101 mm x 33 mm (LxWxH) and is made of a copper-cored aluminium heatsink. Furthermore, the cooler employs forked, spirally-projecting fins which are ventilated by a 10mm-thick 80mm fan and operates between 1200-3400 RPM. On another note, the 80mm fan has an airflow range between 5.64-15.98 CFM while maintaining a 16.5-28.98 dBA noise output.
The NT08-115XP is designed specifically for Intel’s LGA115x series and supports the LGA1156, LGA1150 and LGA1151 sockets. Also, the cooler can handle thermal loads up to 65W and uses a push-pin mechanism pretty similar to the Intel stock cooler. This should make it easy to install which is important when you’re building in a restricted space. According to SilverStone, the product will be available from the 8th of December with pricing information to come very soon. Honestly, I’m not entirely convinced this is going to make a huge difference from Intel’s stock solution although it will be interesting to test this first hand.
