Silverstone Creates 500W SFX-L Form Factor PSU with 500W Gold Rating
Bohs Hansen / 10 years ago
Sometimes small is just a little too small and Silverstone has introduced the SFX-L form factor for just this reason. Someone has to be the first to pioneer new standards and many SFF enclosures have plenty of space to fit this extended SFX PSU; you should however check your specs two times before you order.
The new SX500-LG SFX PSU comes with an 80 Plus Gold efficiency rating for the 500 watts of power it can deliver. The increased size of the PSU allows to use a 120mm over the common 92mm fans usually used in SFX PSUs. The use of a 120mm fan allows for both better cooling and a less noisy operation.
The fully modular layout allows for the easiest possible installation in those tight mITX cases and other small form factor enclosures. Further, Silverstone created all cables as flat arrays to keep the easy installation going. The included cable connections are two 6+2 pin PCIe, one 4+4 pin EPS, one 24-pin ATX, three SATA, two Molex, and one Berg/Floppy. Enough to connect and power a normal gaming rig, and your chassis doesn’t even have to support SFX power supplies as Silverstone ships this PSU with an ATX adapter bracket.

The 80Plus gold rated PSU has a ±3% regulation and low ripple & noise performance for high stability and continuous 24/7 use with a 500w power output at a 40-degree operating temperature.
The new Silverstone SX500-LG PSU (SST-SX500-LG) should become available later this month.
