SilverStone Kublai KL06 Micro-ATX Chassis Review

Final Thoughts

Pricing

The Silverstone Kublai KL06B is available from Scan.co.uk for a very reasonable £62.24, which is a fairly average price for most chassis, but the quality, engineering, and component compatibility on offer here makes the Kublai one of the best chassis in its class; it’s not too expensive, but you certainly get a lot of quality for your money.

Overview

I absolutely love this chassis, it’s refreshing to see a high-end focused small form factor chassis, that hasn’t been designed to look like your average running shoe. So many chassis manufacturers are still focusing on “gamer” type designs and while that’s great, some of us want to have a sleeker, more professional looking system in our home or office; that’s exactly what the KL06 delivers.

This is a very versatile chassis and while it’s very well suited to a gaming system, it’s certainly got a lot of appeal to the professional market. If I was planning to build a compact rendering rig or a networking/NAS solution, a chassis like the KL06 would be at the top of my shopping list. It would be well suited to housing a card like the new Quadro 6000, a rack of high-performance SSD drives in RAID, a water cooling solution for an overclocked CPU and with the new X99 Micro-ATX and Mini-ITX boards on the market, you’re well on your way to a very smart and easily maintained workstation.

Build quality and design is exceptional throughout, with thick panels, a little sound proofing in the base, easily maintainable dust filters, a positive air pressure design, tool-free hard drive bays, a removable motherboard mounting tray, well designed cable management spaces and so much more for such a little chassis.

Pros

  • Well suited to virtually any type of system gaming/network/NAS/workstation
  • Affordable price
  • Excellent build quality
  • Nice aesthetics
  • Dust filters
  • High-quality fans pre-installed
  • Water cooling support
  • Movable/removable hard drive bays
  • Tool-free drive installation
  • Removable motherboard tray
  • Support for long graphics cards

Cons

  • None

“Silverstone have done an incredible job on the KL06 design. From the outside, it’s a neat and tidy, professional looking chassis, but it has a feature packed interior that is on par with any premium grade chassis. One of the best Micro-ATX chassis’ I have ever seen and certainly worth considering for your next build.”

Thank you Silverstone for providing us with this sample.
