Silverstone Precision Series PS07 Midi-Tower Chassis Review

It took me around 20 mins to install our test components in the PS07, despite its small footprint it’s pretty much a Tardis on the interior and because we used the smaller M-ITX board and a low profile CPU cooler we have a colossal amount of spare room left inside the chassis.
I’ve chosen to remove the hard drive rack in the PS-07, partly because it gives us a better view of the build but I also assumed it would provide better airflow within the chassis. I have discovered that it states in the manual for the PS-07 that leaving the hard drive bays in place allows it to act as a fan duct and Silverstone state that this would actually improve the cooling efficiency of the chassis. Of course it’s nice to demonstrate that it can be removed, but you should only really do so if you require the extra space for other components.
With or without the hard drive bay in place there is plenty of room for clean airflow running from front to back within the chassis. With air being able to reach the back of the chassis with ease we can see there isn’t much need in this build for a rear exhaust fan, of course it couldn’t hurt to install a 120mm extraction fan should you need one.
The twin fans in the front will provide a good amount of cool air for our GTX 560 Ti too, even if I had left in the hard drive rack I don’t think it would have made much difference in the end, especially given how little space our test components have taken up within the chassis.
You can just about see our Antec 620M hiding away at the top of the chassis, leaving plenty of breathing room for our graphics cards fans. Things may get a little snug with extra cards in there, so a little forward planning on what type of expansion cards you’re planning to use might save you a few headaches.
Around the back of the chassis everything is looking neat and tidy and with plenty of clearance between the GPU and PSU we should have any troubles with airflow.
With all the panels back in place it doesn’t look like I’ve installed anything in the PS07 at all, the chassis looks as clean and tidy as it did when I took it out of the box.
