SilverStone SST-MR01 Aluminium Monitor Riser Review

Final Thoughts

Price

The SilverStone MR01 is available from Overclockers UK for a very reasonable £44.99. That may not sound like a cheap price, but given the thick aluminium build quality, you certainly get what you pay for. The SST-MR01 is available in both black and silver finishes.

Overview

There really isn’t much to say about the SilverStone SST-MR01, it’s a very simple design and has a very simple purpose, but without a doubt it’s a fantastic product and certainly adds to the desktop environment, freeing up a little extra storage space that would otherwise be unavailable.

The stand isn’t very tall, but it has just enough clearance underneath to tuck your peripherals out of the way when you need room to do any other kind of work. Personally, I found it very handy for having lunch at my desk, as well as the times I do my guitar practice. The stand allows me to tuck the keyboard out of the way and have my guitar recording gear on the desktop for easy access. It’s also handy if you’re mounting a steering wheel on your desk and need to clear more room; basically, it’s good for a lot of different scenarios.

My only wish would be that the stand was taller, or that there was an adjustment to raise it, as this would allow me to store some larger items under there, but that’s really a personal preference and the space is still usable as it is. It also acts as a nice cable tidy, hiding the bulk of any desktop cables out of sight, helping keep things neat and tidy.

The build quality is superb and the SST-MR01 is unlikely to ever break, bend or cause issues. The heavy base holds my 28″ monitor with ease and I doubt you’ll find a display that’s too heavy for this unit to handle, I could easily stand on it without any concern. The finish is sublime too, but then again I do love gadgets that have an aluminium finish.

Pros

  • Exceptional build quality
  • Unibody design
  • Simple yet effective
  • Great for storing peripherals
  • Goes great with other SilverStone desktop products

Cons

  • None

“A simple addition to your desktop that does exactly what it promises. It may seem a little expensive for what it is, but the price you pay gets you superb build quality and flawless design that will compliment any desktop setup.”
