Silverstone SUGO 14 Mini-ITX Cube Case Review

Exterior

One thing I do love about this PC case is the paint. It has this inky black finish to it, it’s a little matte, it’s a little metallic and it has a fairly smooth texture to it. What it does it catch and diffuse light really well, giving it a super cool look. Albeit, it’s a very dark black, so it really is a bugger to take a picture of. I’ve got all the curtains open and lights on here!

As you can see, the left and right side panels have huge amounts of ventilate, with a perforated metal design. There are huge dust filters on each side too.

The power button looks fantastic, with this gold stripe running right over the front of the case. It looks simple yet stunning. It reminds me of the join in fabrics on some of the Star Trek uniforms.

It does look good doesn’t it. It’s not until later I realise this isn’t actually how the case is supposed to look though; you’ll see why!

Top of the case is flat and clean, nothing crazy here. But wait, where the heck are the USB ports?

Yup, I had the case upside down! However, it’s no surprise as it’s actually designed to go in multiple orientations.

This is the stock way up, but as I said, Silverstone designed this case with no fixed feet so that you can have it on its side or flat like this. However, they include two sets of adhesive feet so that whichever air intake is on the bottom, it gets proper airflow. That section on the right is a cover so you can install a 5.25″ drive bay.

The top mount has plenty of airflow of its own, with a full-length vent. Plus, just like the side ones, this also has a full dust filter on the inside.

The front ports offer up two USB 3 and a single USB 2 port, as well as a combi 3.5mm jack. I don’t like the U3 and U2 labels though, it seems like a pointless abbreviation to me.

Around the back of the case, you’ll find eight large thumbscrews, allowing you to easily remove any of the side panels, including the bottom panel.

It’s all pretty standard stuff back here, with a rear fan mount offering both 120mm and 140mm fittings. However, a 140mm fan is pre-installed, and it comes with elongated screw holes to improve compatibility. While a mini-ITX or DTX board only has a single PCIe slot, you do get three slots on the case, so those super chunky modern gaming GPUs should fit with relative ease.
