Silverstone SUGO SST-SG11 Micro-ATX Chassis Review

Interior

The left, top and right panels are a single piece, which can be removed by undoing three screws at the back of the chassis and sliding the panel off of the case. Once inside, you can see there’s a fair amount of space in here, so it should be easy to get a motherboard, power supply, and any other hardware situated.

Here you can see the two 80mm fan mounts. The fan mountings are optional and at the very least they’ll also provide you with some passive airflow. This top bracket is also completely removable, so there should be no issues with compatibility if you’re using wide expansion cards.

There’s a 5.25″ drive bay on the other side, something that will no doubt please HTPC users, but also an extra suspended bracket above the drive tray that can support 2 x 2.5″ hard drives.

Around the other side, you can better see that pre-installed 120mm fan, upgraded from an 80mm fan in the previous model and this will help better direct more airflow into the chassis, while no doubt producing lower noise from being able to move the same amount of air at a lower RPM.

One thing that did surprise me is this remarkably secure and robust hard drive bay. It’s a little tricky to get access to, as you need to remove the top 80mm fan bracket, but the trays are fully metal, all of which screw tightly in place and while it could be a pain for those who like to quickly swap out drives, it’s nice to see something that looks like it’ll keep your hard drives well protected. Then again, if you need even more storage, the bracket on the right can support a staggering 7 x 2.5″ drives; great news for those planning a NAS/Workstation build.

The expansion slots are protected by an external screw guard. There are no thumb screws on this chassis, so expect a little extra tool time for your build, but by the looks of it, the extra effort will be worth it and the chassis looks and feel very well reinforced and engineered, so let’s get our components installed and see how it looks!
