SilverStone Unveils CS381 Micro-ATX Case Prototype

At the recent SilverStone Expo 2017 Autumn in Japan, the company unveiled a prototype of their latest micro-ATX enclosure called the CS381. As reported in ASCII.jp, the compact case is designed for storing up to twelve drives. Eight of these drives can be 3.5-inch or 2.5-inch, and can be hot-swappable from the front bay.

This front bay also has a door which locks and has noise dampening liner behind it. An ideal use would be for home or small-business users requiring a more powerful micro-ATX system. The ventilation actually comes from the sides via 2x 120mm fan rather than directly from the front, with  the airflow traverses across and can exhaust at the rear. The rear side has room for another 2x 120mm fan. It appears this can also be used to mount a 240mm AIO liquid CPU cooler if needed. Users can also use this area to mount two more 3.5-inch drives, plus drive mounting options are available at the top of each hot-swap drive bay.

Since space is at an economy, the power supply support is for an SFX-L form factor. Although the actual hot-swap drive bays appear to be completely removable (held by screws). This is most likely for those who want to use the case as a tower instead, rotating it by 90-degrees.

Pricing and Availability

Since this is the SilverStone CS381’s debut, there is no word on pricing and availability yet.
