The original SilverStone Raven RVZ01 impressed us a great deal over two years ago and is still one of the best HTPC chassis on the market. Now the time has come for its successor, the unimaginatively named, RVZ02 to be publicly showcased. Firstly, the RVZ02’s aesthetic design is beautiful with a subtle Raven logo and vivid power indicator. Additionally, the case’s exterior is constructed from high-grade plastic and features a strong, steel body.
As you might expect, the chassis supports the Mini-ITX form factor and requires an SFX or SFX-L power supply. SilverStone also added support for long graphics cards up to 13 inches and incorporates a tool-less drive cage design. The case also utilizes independent expansion slots to allow for easy assembly. In terms of dimensions, the chassis is 380mm x 87mm x 370mm and 1.2 liters. On the front, we can access two USB 3.0 ports, microphone and audio jacks.
The tight enclosure means the maximum CPU cooler height is 58mm. This shouldn’t be a major problem but will limit the your cooler selection. For instance, the Noctua NH-L9x65 is designed for ITX builds but exceeds the case’s maximum at 65mm. The RVZ02 opts for chassis ventilation holes to help with airflow. I’m quite fond of the idea that you use the system both horizontally and vertically. Hopefully, we should be able to conduct a review of the RVZ02 very soon.
