I was a huge fan of SimCity 2000 growing up, I remember my high school was one of the first in the state to receive computers and they were fast enough to run SimCity. They were Pentium 75’s, with 17-inch CRTs. Super expensive, but it was so amazing to play SimCity 2000.
Well, the SimCity franchise is being rebooted, and the release date is now known: March 5 in the US, March 8 in Europe. A couple of months ago the release window for the reboot was February 2013, so it has slipped a little, but at least it’s just a couple of weeks and not a couple of months.
The rebooted SimCity sports an in-house-built new graphics engine “Glassbox”, which will provide more realistic simulations. This is thanks to a micro-level AI for every object within the SimCity world. EA have released no pricing on the game, but they will make it available through Origin, as well as traditional DVD format for both the Mac and PC.
