Skullcandy Reveals EcoBuds, Eco-Friendly Earbuds

To make an effort against the environmental impact of plastic waste and e-waste, SkullCandy has released their new EcoBuds which have been constructed from 65% recycled plastics, 57% less heavy metals, and a 50% lower carbon footprint than comparable products in the market all for a fraction of the cost.

The EcoBuds have been constructed following an environmental impact analysis using a third-party provider Ecochain. The study found that lithium batteries are found to be one of the worst carbon offenders for true wireless electronics. This led to the construction of these earbuds which feature a battery-free case design alongside reduced virgin plastics. This allows the earbuds to achieve 1.35 kg CO2eq total carbon footprint which is a 50% reduction compared to similar products. Despite the lack of a battery within the case, these earbuds still offer eight hours of battery life alongside rapid charge support through a built in USB-C cable.

The buds themselves feature a blue and white marble pattern “glacier” colour which pays tribute to the natural landscapes they are designed to help protect. They also offer a premium audio quality with a microphone in each bud, a noise isolating fit, music, bass boost and podcast EQ modes, and call, track and volume controls with capacitive touch.
