Skype launched its well anticipated iPad app on the apple store this morning, this application has been expected for well over a month. The app was first released late on Monday night but was quickly pulled as it went live too soon.
“To ensure your best Skype experience, we’ve temporarily removed Skype for iPad which went live prematurely today,” – Skype said on twitter.
The application uses the front facing camera on the iPad 2 to make video calls, however this is not possible on the first generation iPad so it can only receive video calls. Users of Skype for the iPad are able to call and video chat with non-Apple devices such as Android phones and PC’s. They are able to connect via Wi-Fi or 3G.
