Bethesda expects Skyrim update 1.4 to launch on Xbox Live later today, but the timing of the PS3 release is still to be nailed down.
Pete Hines, vice president of PR and marketing at the company, said on Twitter last night: “It’s coming! 1.4 should go up on XBL early tomorrow.
“PS3 update is looking good too,” he added. “We’ll update if we get more info from Sony.”
Bethesda says the update – which hit PC last week – provides a slew of bug and quest fixes, the main one being “long term play optimisations for memory and performance” on PS3.
The PS3 fix has been a long time coming, with some users experiencing game-crippling lag, or what Bethesda has referred to as “occasional performance issues resulting from long term play”.
In related news, speaking during his DICE 2012 keynote speech, Skyrim game director Todd Howard said that the RPG has been played by over ten million people, “many million” of whom are playing on PC. Steam statistics show the average user playtime is an “amazing” 75 hours, he added.
