Skyrim – Dawnguard PC Review

Dawnguard focuses around the return of Lord Harkon, an ancient Vampire leader of clan Volkihar, whose aim is to see the return of Vampires to the lands of Tamriel and lift their curse of being restricted to the nights. It’s down to you to decide if you will side with the evil vampires or side with the Dawnguard, a faction of vampire hunters, bent on eradicating their race from the lands for good.
Dependant on which side you choose to follow, you can gain access to the Castle Volkihar or the stunning Ford Dawnguard, each coming with their own set of weapons, perks, armour and allies in your fight against the opposing faction. The most prominent of these is the introduction of Crossbows, a new weapon class that further expands on the weapon sets available in the original game, while nothing spectacular compared to the custom swords I have created for my self over the many hours I’ve played, they are a welcome and fun addition to the game.
In addition to the weapons, the new abilities really add something special to the game, much like the Werewolf transformation in the games main story, you can now access the Vampire Lord ability, which allows you to transform into the vampire lord himself, to feed, destroy and claw to death your foes, rush forward as a cloud of bats and much more, with the added benefit that the vampire lord ability even comes with its own skill progression tree for you to level up as you play through the DLC.
