Skyrim, as most people probably already know by the huge coverage of the game across the gaming community, is immensely popular. And in an event that would shock most people, Skyrim has substantially outsold Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3 on Steam in terms of digital purchases and downloads. Steam’s Director of Business Development Jason Holtman had this to say:
“Skyrim is the fastest selling title in Steam’s history, Bethesda’s commitment to and understanding of the PC as a gaming platform shows in the great review scores, spectacular launch, and continued high player numbers that Skyrim has received. We are delighted that Bethesda chose to use Steamworks to support Skyrim both at retail and digitally.”
This is certainly an interesting development given that Skyrim is available on console and PC, like Modern Warfare 3, and yet it has sold better than Modern Warfare 3 on PC whilst still holding ground on console. Skyrim is certainly a big hit all round but is appealing particularly well to its PC crowd which can only leave future games in the series with a bright future.
