Smugglers Use Lobsters To Hide 70 Graphics Cards

Smugglers have been caught trying to smuggle 70 graphics cards by hiding them with live lobsters.

GPUs Smuggled With Live Lobsters

Hong Kong Police (Via TomsHardware) have caught smugglers attempting to smuggle 70 “high-value” graphics cards within a cargo crate which contained around 200 live lobsters at an estimated cost of HK$600,000 which is unclear whether the price for the cards and the lobsters or just the cards. The HK police saw something fishy about the van carrying the cargo and pulled them in just as they were about to cross the Hong Kong-Zhuhai-Macao Bridge.

What Cards Were Smuggled?

You would be mistaken for assuming they were smuggling the latest RTX graphics cards but that is not the case. In the image above HK Customs showed off the haul of what looks to be Nvidia Quadro K2200 cards from mid-2014 which you would find difficult to describe as high-value as they can be found on eBay in the UK for as low as £35. The image makes it hard to believe that these cards were valued at HK$600,000 which equates to around £60,000 so this valuation most definitely must contain the lobsters. I think next time they’ll be better off smuggling the lobsters within the graphics cards.
