Snapchat Despite Petition Hold Firm On Latest Update

Snapchat

Following a recent update to the popular photo application, Snapchat, it’s users have clearly not been happy about it. With a petition reaching over one million signatures, there were hopes from the community that they would consider rolling back to the previous version.

The owner of the app, Evan Speigel, has, however, dashed all hopes. The current version is here to stay. Well, at least until the next one.

Opposition to the update

Following a report we made a few days ago, it was clear that since the update, users of the popular app were not happy. Largely they found that the app had been overcomplicated from its prior simple design. In addition to this, the changing of swiping right to left (or was it left to right?) was an unnecessary change.

The opposition was so great in fact that a petition was created which quickly garnered itself over a million unique signatures.

No Rollback!

Despite the amount of protestation against this new version of Snapchat, in a report via Metro, the owner has made it clear. They have no intentions of scrapping the current version.

Speaking of the changes, Evan Spiegel said: ‘You do need folks to use the product, to communicate with their friends to learn how to better provide that feed. Even the complaints we’re seeing reinforce the philosophy. Even the frustrations we’re seeing really validate those changes. It’ll take time for people to adjust, but for me using it for a couple months I feel way more attached to the service.’

What will happen now?

The short answer is, that unless the petition explodes further, or people in mass start moving away, the new update is here to stay.

It seems clear that Snapchat wants to keep the new update and simply cite any displeasure at it as people unwilling to adapt to the new system. In fairness, they are probably right. It does, however, violate a golden rule in sales – Give the people what they want!

What do you think? How are you finding the new version? Did you sign the petition? Think you will get used to it? – Let us know in the comments!
