Snapchat, despite being one of the most popular mobile apps out there, has not had the best of news over the last few weeks. Since a recent update fans have been crying out and even starting petitions to get the company to roll-back to the previous version.
Well, the good news is that Snapchat has released an update, the bad news is, all it’s done really is add gif’s.
Last week we reported how Snapchat users were rebelling against the latest update. Put simply, fans of the app hated the changes and particularly felt that the update has massively and unnecessarily complicated the usage. It even led to a petition which quickly garnered itself over a million unique signatures begging the company to roll-back to the previous version.
Alas, however, your cries fell on deaf ears. Despite some unconfirmed rumors over the last few days. Snapchat is holding firm. In the latest update, in a report via Metro, all that has been added is gifs. That’s it!
The boss of Snapchat has insisted that the changes to the app make it better to use and, paraphrasing somewhat, fans will eventually get used to it. I’m sure they will, but at the same time, they are running a major risk.
In the world of online social media, the next big thing is always just around the corner. By sticking to their guns here, Snapchat is definitely risking losing supporters. Fewer downloads mean less revenue and less revenue is never good.
In a word? No. It’s here and it’s here to stay. The fans spoke but the bosses didn’t listen. Like it or not, you’re stuck with the current version.
I could, of course, be proven wrong, but let’s just say I would be exceptionally surprised at a u-turn now.
What do you think? Is the anger against the app overstated? How are you finding it? – Let us know in the comments!
