It looks like Google is currently conducting some sort of experiment by changing the color of some links in its search results from blue to black, and nobody knows exactly why this is happening. Even though the search engine is constantly changing behind the scenes, its looks have remained relatively the same since its early days: a white background, ten results per page and blue links. Some of us are so used to seeing only blue links in Google’s search results that these black links might seem somewhat bizarre, but the interesting news is that there doesn’t seem to be any clear pattern that dictates which accounts take part in the experiment.
Moreover, some users have reported that the links revert back to their regular color once they log out and sign back in. Google’s representatives have not issued an official response at the time of writing, and it’s quite clear that these black links will not become visible for everyone. Depending on feedback and other metrics, the links might stick around for a while, or they might disappear completely very soon if enough people complain about them. What do you think about this new look? I’d definitely have a hard time getting used to it.
