I’m a big Sonic fan, albeit, even I admit that most of the games were a bit hit and miss. The original three still hold up great though, as does that truly stunning Sonic Mania. Sega clearly knows this and has been listening to their fans, as it seems they’ve put the modern Sonic engine to task and remastered the original Sonic games. that’s right, SEGA has just announced Sonic Origins, a new collection set to feature Sonic the Hedgehog, Sonic CD, Sonic the Hedgehog 2, and Sonic 3 & Knuckles.
The games will be a nice upgrade from the older 16-bit builds. The mechanics have been fine-tuned, the graphics and animations cleaned up, and a wave of new features have been added. What’s more, while you can play the “Classic” versions, you can also play in “Anniversary” mode, and even have widescreen enabled too! How awesome does that sound? Very, that’s how awesome it sounds.
Sonic Origins will release on all major platforms on the 23rd of June. If you can’t wait that long to see what’s on offer, check out the official trailer below!
