Stillalive studios today announced that with only 2 days until the conclusion of the Kickstarter campaign; for the 3rd person action adventure PC/Mac/Linux title, Son of Nor, they are still going to make sure backer enjoy some exclusive content for getting behind the project, even if the Kickstarter is not a success.
The studio, that has been developing the game for the last 2 years without much financial backing, will endeavour to complete the game even if the Kickstarter fails to reach the $150,000 target needed; as the amount of support and positive feedback they have received from backers and the Facebook and Twitter communities has convinced them that they are excited about the game. The team will need to look to other avenues for investment and this will mean a revised frame, although the team are still very hopeful the money can be raised to allow for a successful Kickstarter campaign.
Each person who has pledged for the Kickstarter at the conclusion of the campaign will be rewarded regardless of the conclusion. If the campaign is a success and the $150k target is met backers will enjoy all of the rewards promised during the campaign, however if the campaign falls short stillalive studios still promises to offer every backer an exclusive in-game item that will not be made available to anyone else when the game is brought to market.
“We have been overwhelmed by the support and positive comments about Son of Nor we have received from backers and the community on our Facebook pages. We have had the most amazing comments and people are really excited about our game. We have over 1,500 people behind our project now on Kickstarter and have raised over $110k, so we really just want to say thank you to them.” Said Julian Mautner, CEO, stillalive studios
The team hopes that many more people will get behind the project to push it over the line in order for backers to secure all promised rewards and ensure the title for release in Q2 2014 however.
This is not a usual move by a studio and will be one of the first times a Kickstarter project has made such a statement of appreciation for those that have got behind them regardless of the outcome of the campaign.
“We really are grateful and pleased that so many people have seen so much in our game. It has been our passion for a number of years and we are delighted by the fact so many see its amazing potential. We really do hope that in these last few days however backers, fans and friends of ours help us over the line by increasing their bid or spreading the word to friends, colleagues and family.” Mautner concluded.
The team has announced a number of very exciting and groundbreaking partnerships throughout the campaign, including support for Emotiv EPOC; a headset that will allow players to control character actions, such as telekinesis, terraforming and magic with the power of their minds and Oculus Rift; a ground-breaking virtual reality headset for immersive gaming.
If Son of Nor is successfully funded through Kickstarter, the team anticipates a release in Q2, 2014.
