Sony Acquiring Audio Technology Brand Audeze

Sony has today announced that it has entered an agreement to acquire audio technology brand Audeze.

Sony To Acquire Audeze

Audeze is a leading name in audio technology and is behind a large portfolio of high-end gaming headphones. The company is based in Santa Ana California and provides high-quality audio options for gamers, professionals and audiophiles. The company is best known for its unique planar magnetic drivers which deliver an outstanding sound experience for the end user. This deal will allow Audeze to continue to develop its independent products whilst also benefitting from the PlayStation ecosystem. Any details on the cost of the acquisition have not been shared.

What Sony And Audeze Had To Say

“Audeze is a premier brand for headphones, and this acquisition highlights Sony Interactive’s focus on innovation and providing the best audio experience to PlayStation players,” said Hideaki Nishino, Senior Vice President, Platform Experience at Sony Interactive Entertainment. “We’re excited to bring Audeze’s expertise into the PlayStation ecosystem, building on the great strides we’ve made with PlayStation 5’s Tempest 3D AudioTech and the Pulse 3D wireless headset.”

“Sony Interactive provides Audeze with a unique opportunity to scale our business, as we continue with our mission to deliver best-in-class headphones to recording professionals, audiophiles, and gamers,” said Sankar Thiagasamudram, CEO at Audeze. “We’re also looking forward to contributing to Sony Interactive’s efforts to take PlayStation audio experiences to the next level.”

This move should be good news for PlayStation owners as whilst Sony is already known for audio products, Audeze have plenty to offer including their planar magnetic drivers.
