Blood Borne
From Software – the pain-loving developers behind the likes of Dark Souls – has unravelled what looks to be the mystery of Project Beast.
Named “Bloodborne”, the trailer shown seemingly takes players into a medieval London-type area, where mob mentalities and grotesque deformities are commonplace. Suffering from some zombie-like affliction, the populace are ravenous in their thirst, with the rest of the non-affected race hell-bent on the riding the town of the infected.
It’s an incredibly gory affair, with a figure – shrouded in a long, dark cloak – fashioning an elongated scalpel of sorts to quell the streets of the afflicted. One thing’s for certain: the game’s not for the faint-hearted, and you can bet that the game will feature the infamously laborious gameplay associated with some of From Software’s most celebrated titles.
Grand Theft Auto V
During Sony’s E3 press conference, we learn that the critically acclaimed Grand Theft Auto V is headed to the PlayStation 4 this fall. If you own the game on the PS3, you’ll be able to transfer your save data to the PS4, thereby allowing you to continue playing the amazing experience that is GTAV.
If you’ve not yet had the pleasure, well, add it to your holiday wish list. Sony boss Andrew House says GTAV on PS4 will take advantage of the console’s prodigious power and raw capability, and that’ll make this particular virtual world more vibrant than ever.
Batman Arkham Knight
Sony fans were treated to a great looking demo of Rocksteady’s Batman: Arkham Knight at E3. The game looks pretty spectacular, beautifully detailed and dripping in atmosphere.
The demo included some gliding action, some Batmobile combat, some good old punching combat and a cameo from the Scarecrow at the end. Scarecrow nightmare missions are only available on PlayStation, which is pretty exciting. Scarecrow is my personal favourite Batman villain and his segments were some of the best parts of Arkham Asylum. If this demo is anything to go by, the game is going to be rather excellent. It’s wonderfully fluid, the city looks amazing and the Batman staples look as good as ever.
Batman: Arkham Knight will be released some time in 2015.
Metal Gear Solid The Phantom Pain
In the main story set in 1984, Snake finally awakens from his coma and forms a new mercenary group, the Diamond Dogs. Now assuming the codename “Punished Snake”, he ventures into Afghanistan during the Soviet war to track down the men responsible for MSF’s destruction. Along the way, he becomes reacquainted with his former rival Ocelot and encounters a unit of warriors robbed of their past, present and future. While he and Kaz are initially driven to exact revenge, Snake soon unearths a plot by the Cipher organization to develop a weapon with the potential to surpass even the Metal Gear system.
The trailer showcases what looks to be all in-game cutscenes, showing of Konami’s FOX Engine which was first scene in-action with Metal Gear Solid V: Ground Zeroes, a more pre-sequel to Phantom Pain. Featuring a rather gruff looking Snake voiced by Hollywood star Keith Sutherland, the trailer gives us some brief glimpses of events unfolding after Ground Zeroes. But without a doubt, Game developer Konami is once more bringing it graphically with gorgeous renderings and models for the latest entry to this critically acclaimed franchise.
