Sony is expected to officially reveal the PlayStation 5 Pro tomorrow, September 10, during a special livestream event. The event will be hosted by Mark Cerny, the lead architect of the PlayStation 5. According to Sony’s announcement, the presentation will focus on “PS5 and innovations in gaming technology” and will be available on the PlayStation YouTube channel.
The anticipation surrounding this announcement has been building for months, with various leaks and teases fueling speculation. Just days ago, Sony dropped hints of a redesigned PS5 during its 30th anniversary announcement, adding to the belief that this event will unveil the PS5 Pro.
Rumors suggest that the PS5 Pro will feature enhanced performance, delivering more stable frame rates at 4K resolution and an 8K mode in compatible games. It’s speculated that the PS5 Pro will render games 45% faster than the standard PS5, with its ray-tracing capabilities performing two to three times quicker.
In 2020, Cerny unveiled the technical specs of the PlayStation 5 in a similar livestream format, after plans to reveal them at the Game Developers Conference were derailed by the COVID-19 pandemic. This presentation could follow a similar structure but with a focus on the PS5 Pro’s hardware improvements and innovations.
