It seems although Sony hasn’t confirmed its plans to launch the PlayStation Vita, suppliers certainly seem to be getting ready for a phased-in launch, which looks set to launch in the Japanese market in September and then North America and Europe in October.
According to other sources, we have found that Sony’s retailers have already purchased advertising leading up to the launches as such this does rather confirm the dates. However, suppliers have told us that they will be concentrating mainly on the holiday season as of course Sony knows this will either make or break their launch of the PlayStation Vita. Unfortunately we are not aware of how many units Sony reckons it can move, especially now with the formidable popularity switch to gaming on your smartphone. That said, the Vita does look to be a good bit of kit.
While we are slowly finding out more details we are yet to hear anything about the Software or games that will launch with the Vita. We are currently aware of only a few titles, but none of the confirmed titles are exactly ground breaking. The only consolation is that while Sony is about to launch a new handheld, Nintendo’s latest devices the 3DS is certainly struggled and they have even resorted to slashing prices. Hopefully the Vita has more to offer and can make it a success.
