SpaceX Releases 360-Degree Video of Falcon 9 Landing

SpaceX has always been keen to publicise their rocket landing attempts, with space fans being able to watch them live, in high-resolution and after the event peruse galleries of the landing from almost every angle. Now SpaceX has released a full 360-degree video of the Falcon 9 rocket landing on a drone ship from the landing last month. This lets you feel like you’re as far closer to the action, without the risk of having a burning rocket fall on you should the landing go awry.

360-degree videos are hardly common and this is the first time that SpaceX have released one, and what better event for them to show than their historic sea landing. At first, the video seems rather uneventful, with the rocket being just a yellow spot in the sky, but the experience quickly picks up as it approaches. The roaring of the rocket thrusters is amazing and all you can do is look on as the rocket lands before you, able to see the speed it approaches, the shifting of the ship as it touches down and more.

The video is best watched on a phone or VR headset, where you can get the full experience of looking around, so put on some headphones and give it a watch. We can only hope that all of the future landings will be have such videos released for them, even if they explode.
