Spec Ops: The Line Has Been Delisted From Steam

Many years after their original releases, games often see themselves removed from sale which can 90% of the time be attributed to licensing problems and it’s something we just can’t do much about, at least legally. One game that has recently met this fate is Spec Ops: The Line that has been delisted from Steam

Spec Ops: The Line is a bit of an underrated gem from 2K Games, you take the position of a soldier in the deserts of Dubai who over time begins to lose his sanity. It was a refreshing take on the shooter game genre as it didn’t glorify war like many other games and had some truly engaging scenes and realistic characters. The gameplay itself wasn’t amazing, but the story and message made up for it. Unfortunately this game has been delisted from Steam, alongside other storefronts as well due to the age old killer of games, licensing.

Via Kotaku, a spokesperson for 2K released the following statement:

“Spec Ops: The Line will no longer be available on online storefronts, as several partnership licenses related to the game are expiring,” explained 2K in a statement sent over to Kotaku.

The silver lining in all of this is that those that own the game can still go back and give it another playthrough, unlike The Crew. I’d love to recommend the game but obviously with it being delisted, that makes it difficult to get ahold of, and over time the game is only going to become harder to come by, just like many many other games lost to time.
