Speedlink Gantry Portable Bluetooth Speaker Review

Final Thoughts

Price

The Speedlink Gantry is currently available from some high street retailers and Amazon.de for 47.96 EUR. Which is about the average price for a speaker with this level of features and performance.

Overview

There are loads of great mobile speakers already on the market, such as the Antec Mobile Products AMP, which are around the same price and same performance. What it really boils down to most of the time is finding one that best suits your personal design tastes. The Gantry is a nice looking unit overall, but the style is subjective and I think there are a fair few better looking products on the market for the same kind of money. Of course, style isn’t everything.

Looks aside, the performance of the Speedlink Gantry is rather exceptional. It really does pack quick a bang in terms of volume and bass. If you’re wanting to share your music with a small group of people when you’re at the park, or having a BBQ, then this will be more than up to the job. It also sounds good enough that you could easily have it in your bedroom or office and use it for casual music listening, hands free phone calls and other such functions.

I also found it to be quite a good unit for watching movies. Putting your tablet into a stand and chucking this thing behind it is great for boosting the sound. Of course, I wouldn’t recommend doing this on the train, other passengers may not be as thrilled as you are about the extra volume levels. If you’re stuck in a hotel room on the other hand, this is a great thing to have tucked away in your suitcase to help improve your multimedia consumption when you’re away from home.

Pros

  • Rubberised exterior
  • Easy to use built-in controls
  • AUX jack
  • 3.5mm and USB cable included
  • Good battery life
  • Powerful sound
  • NFC/Bluetooth ready

Cons

  • The overall design looks cheaper than competitors products of a similar price.

‘The Gantry is certainly one of the better sounding speakers in its price range and you certainly won’t be disappointed with it. It’s small, powerful, durable and easy to use. While it isn’t the best looking unit, its impressive sound is what has won me over.”

Thank you Speedlink for providing us with this sample.
