Speedlink Maxter Headset & Tarios Gaming Mouse Review

Tarios Gaming Mouse

The Tarios is quite a little surprise, as it’s pretty unique looking. However, it’s packing loads of features for a peripheral in this price range too, which is a pleasant surprise.

It features the usual mouse buttons and two side buttons, obviously. However, there’s also this red one which is rapid-fire. BUT THAT’S CHEATING! Pfft, as if I care, for some run and gun 2D shooters, I think it’s bloody brilliant.

Rocking More Buttons!

Down the left side, you have four programmable buttons. Now, this I love. I use a 12 button mouse, so having these for macros, shortcuts, launches, copy/paste, and all kinds of stuff is what I’m used to. They look like they’re in a strange configuration, but honestly, they feel pretty comfortable and natural to use; to me at least.

Ergonomic

It’s got a great shape to it too. It fits my wider hands very well thanks to the swell on the right side. Of course, it’s right-handed only though. I can fit all my fingers on or around it though, so it’s very comfortable during gaming.

Plus the LMB and RMB are nice and long, so you can use a full palm rest playstyle. However, if you wanted to use a claw/hybrid-grip, you can certainly do that too. Overall it’s very comfortable and easy to control.

More Control

There’s a good-size mouse wheel, with an added rubber grip to make it easier to control. It is clickable, plus has a nicely defined “notch” when turned that’s well suited to picking weapons in FPS titles.

Flicking through the DPI levels is done by the two switches back here. Plus, four LED indicators will let you know where you’re at. Plus, going North of 20K DPI means it’ll be plenty swift even on higher DPI displays.

Finally, the underside has a small compartment housing 3 x 3.33g weights. That’s not much, but hey, a little extra customisation is no bad thing.

RGB and Beyond

For gaming, I find it quite comfortable. I’ve been playing Civilization VI with it today, as well as some Borderlands 2. It’s well suited to either really, and you could be mistaken this mouse costs more than it does. The macro switches are superb, the sensor feels tight, and the switches are decent enough. It’s not ground-breaking, but it’s plenty competent overall.

As a child still in my 30's (but not for long), I spend my day combining my love of music and movies with a life-long passion for gaming, from arcade classics and retro consoles to the latest high-end PC and console games. So it's no wonder I write about tech and test the latest hardware while I enjoy my hobbies!
