Speedlink are an interesting brand, on one had their main market is for the budget conscious consumer, as they’ve never really broken into the high-end market, in fact, I don’t think they’ve ever tried to. Speedlink is one of those brands you wouldn’t normally consider, but when you see their products, the features they offer, and most importantly their price, they can quickly find themselves in your shopping basket.
With prices around £50, the Quinox isn’t the cheapest game controller on the market, but it comes absolutely packed full of features at a price range similar to that of the Microsoft Xbox One controller. For around the same price, you get a built-in OLED screen, detachable cable and fingertip paddles, the kind you would find on something like a Scuf gaming controller, or the £100+ Xbox One Elite Controller.
“Always wanted a configurable gamepad? Then the new QUINOX is the one you’ve been waiting for. In addition to its two analog sticks with integrated buttons plus the D-pad, the USB gamepad has additional buttons on the back. All additional buttons are programmable, including with macros, and assignable to any of the multiple profiles using the software. You can even configure the analog sticks’ sensitivity and the trigger deadzones. And for the perfect gaming experience, the gamepad features a vibration function.” – Speedlink
With a macro engine, full button customisation, adjustable stick sensitivity and more, this controller should appeal to a wide range of PC gamers. It doesn’t have the badge appeal of some brands, but that doesn’t mean it cannot contend. Let’s move on and take a closer look at what is on offer.
Packaging & Accessories
On the front of the box, you’ll find all the details you need about the spec, as well as a nice and clear image of the controller, even showing off the red LED lighting.
Around the back, more technical info, but nothing we haven’t already listed above. Still, all these details are handy in a retail environment.
In the box, you’ll find a collection of user guides, all pretty standard stuff.
There’s a 2.4m black braided cable included, it’s really nice quality and it’s fully detachable too, which is always a nice bonus.
