Windows Notepad is a simple app, you write things down you adjust config files for game mods… that’s about all there is to it. Naturally that means we can all get excited about an update to the app which introduces a spell-checker.
Notepad Spell Checker
In the latest Windows Blog post, Microsoft has detailed an update for Notepad which will be rolling out to Windows Insiders. The upcoming Notepad version 11.2402.18.0 will introduce a spellcheck into the application which is a minor thing that some people may appreciate. If you’ve never used a computer and don’t know what a spell-check is, it basically highlights misspelled words and then offers corrections for those words. Additionally an autocorrect feature will be added that will automatically correct common typing mistakes as you type.
The feature will be enabled by default in some file types, but for log files and other files associated with coding it will be off by default. This can be toggled in the notepad app settings.
A very exciting addition for Windows 11 indeed, can’t wait to fix my spelling mistakes in notepad.
